Duinevlei E-Learning Farm School
Good news! An E-learning centre was opened by Victory Christion School and partner organisations. At a meeting held by concerned parents and stakeholders on 24 October 2022 at Duinevlei, it was decided to establish a rural E-learning School Centre for about 20 children from the Duinevlei area. The Co-op Community Trust and partner, Sakhingomso NPO support this initiative as education is one of our core focus areas of community development. Victory Christian School in Jeffreys Bay is willing to adopt and invest in this opportunity and we aim to start this pioneer project in January 2023.
Reasons for Establishing
1. Concerns of the parents:
- The safety of our children on the bus, at the schools and on the roads.
- Days absent from school due to lack of transport and bus break-downs.
- Children are struggling at the current Afrikaans-medium school and parents are struggling to assist them with homework.
- Gangsterism make it unsafe for our children to attend schools.
2. The Solution: Quality Education Is Key for Future Skills Supply
South Africa, and especially agriculture desperately need trained, skilled and educated people to utilise and to develop the myriad opportunities and assets. Our farmers in Kouga need skilled workers to develop farms into their maximum sustainable potential. It is therefore essential and necessary to invest in good quality education for our children. It is sad to say but the educational system, especially the Eastern Cape, has failed rural children in South Africa.
3. The Following Assets Are Available To Start:
- A safe building - Buy-in from parents (See attached signed letter)
- Buy-in from stakeholders - Curriculum support from Victory Christian School
- Institutional support from VCS - Internet access
Farm owners in the area fully support the initiative.
Victory Christian School
Victory Christian School will supply institutional support, curriculum access and general training and technical support. Duinevlei E-learning Farm School is in fact, a Victory Christian School satellite campus and will soon have an official opening.
